Hi Bob,

Hmm, are you referring to the big world map? Sure that does not give a good
compass. But what you describe as option 3 reminds me of the mini-map. It can be
easily resized and gives you a good idea of your surroundings. In the General
tab of preferences ("Rotate Mini-Map") you can even set it to either
rotate with your avatar or stay fixed with North up. Though a compass is a nice
idea, I don't think it would be worth the effort to replace the existing
mini-map. Let me know, if I am overlooking something!

I am just testing and packaging, sometime this week it should finally get out.
But seems the teleport button is not working in OpenSim yet, though it does fine
in SL.

Hi Mana.. sorry I havent replied quickly but I have been busy.
No you arent missing something and as you say option 3 was over ambitious and is
similar to the mini map. I wish I had just stuck with option 1 now. Maybe we
could just persue that option if it is easier.
The viewer window has a title that tells the user where they are (i.e
orientation information)in terms of region name, x/y/z and parcel type and name
but does not tell you which way you are looking.
Currently:
Marwood 9,123,51 (Mature)- Your parcel
Proposed:
Marwood 9,123,51[NE](Mature)- Your parcel
Thus show roughly which way you are facing [North East].
I personally would be OK with a bearing instead like 0 degrees for North or 180
degress for South, if that is easier to do, but some users may find that harder
to understand so N and S would be better for them.
In this way users would always know the direction directon they are facing
without the need to open extra windows.
Whatever you decide to do on this (or not) I still think Hippo viewer is a
great
idea.
Best regards... Bob
